About the logo
The cross is the universal symbol for medicine and the serpent entwined around the centre depicts the Rod of Asclepius, the ancient Greek symbol for healing. Red and Green halves of the cross represent the two ends of the triage spectrum, the Red for critical illness and the Green, for stability. We Emergency Physicians work tirelessly to convert a Red patient in to a Green, reviving those who are, at times, literally at the death's door.
The college emblem was designed by Dr. Aruni Kalawila. She was then a 3rd year registrar in Emergency medicine who won the SLCEP emblem designing competition held in October 2021.
